How It Works

Renting a bit from us is a seamless process. Simply select the bit you want to try, add a trial period to the bit using the drop-down menu, then add the bit to your cart. A trial charge will automatically be added to your order total.

Once you've received your bit, you have two weeks of unlimited test rides before you need to return it. The trial starts from the day your bit is delivered to test ride in it.

At the end of your trial, if you like the bit, please keep it! If not, simply send it back for a full refund.

If you receive a used bit for trial, you have the option of sending it back to receive a brand new version of the same bit. Simply tie the blue ribbon provided in your Bit Fit Kit around the bit(s) you'd like to purchase. When we receive the bits back, anything will a blue ribbon on it will not be refunded, but rather a new version of that bit will be sent to you. Easy Peasy!

First-time trialing wasn't the charm? No problem! Our bit trials are unlimited. You can keep ordering and trying different bits until you find the perfect fit for your horse. If you' need help choosing a bit feel free to contact us! We are here to help you fit your bit.

Bit Care

All trial bits are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected upon return and before being sent out. We recommend you perform your own sanitization of a trial bit to ensure its sanitation is to your satisfaction. Fit Your Bit cannot be held responsible for any infections, disease, viruses or any other medical condition found after trialing a bit.

When trialing a bit, we ask that you care for it like it was your own. This helps us keep our bit trial costs low for you and other customers to enjoy. Here are a few simple bit care tips:

- Wash bits after each use in warm water.

- Keep bits in a dry, clean area when not in use.

- measure your horse's mouth and make sure your bridle fits properly. This will ensure the bit isn't hitting your horse's teeth (ouch!) and causing damage to the bit.

Terms and Conditions

Bits should be returned in the same condition they were in when you received them. We understand that bits will come back with general wear-and-tear from being in a horse's mouth. This will not affect your ability to return a bit.

Bits that acquire rust, disfigurements, serious dents or broken bits will not be refunded.

It is for this reason that plastic bits are generally not offered for trial as they can chip, crack, or break, rendering the bits un-usable. If you would like to purchase a plastic bit but you're not sure what size or mouthpiece to get, please contact us and we would be happy to assist you.

When returning bits we suggest buying parcel insurance and adding a tracking feature to your package. Fit Your Bit cannot be held responsible for lost or missing bits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I extend my bit trial?

You are eligible for a bit trial extension before placing your order. We will adjust the trial fee accordingly. After your order has been placed and the bit has been shipped out to you, extensions are not available. The trial bit will need to come back within 2 weeks so another bit trialler can have a go!

What happens if I break a bit?

Broken, rusted or disfigured bits are non-refundable. If the bit is still of use to you, you can keep it. If you happen to break a trial bit, please contact us for help.

Do you offer in-person bit fitting services?

We currently do not offer in-person lorinery services, but we would be happy to give you bitting advice and bit suggestions through email. We are committed to helping you find the perfect bit - no matter how long or short that process may be!

Do you buy used bits? Can I trade in an old bit for a new one?

Yes, we do occasionally buy used bits or offer credit for "trade-in" bits. If you have a bit that is a brand we already carry, please contact us with a description of the bit and a picture. All trade-in bits must be in usable condition.
